I try and follow 2 simple rules:

  1. People don’t read ads, they read what interests them, sometimes that happens to be an ad.

  2. If it sounds like writing, rewrite it.

When I write, I focus on creating simple, entertaining copy that will pique the interest of whatever reader I’m imagining in my head whenever the ink is hitting paper.

I assume my reader is intelligent, but not an expert; that they rightfully care a lot more about themselves than me; and that they are busy, so I put a huge emphasis on respecting their time in order to get their attention.

 

PSA: Let’s Save The World

When I’m not doing my inside things, you’ll find me doing my outside things like hiking, biking, motorcycling, skiing and camping. I was born and raised a Yooper —to the uninitiated— a Yooper is a native of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, or better known as, “The UP” (get it?). This has cultivated a love for the wild lands that runs deep within me.

Recently, I’ve had a bit of an epiphany. I’d like to use my “powers of persuasive creation” to protect public lands, preserve national lakeshore, restore our forests and maybe in some small way, help save the world.
